Colin, as the "leader" of this blog, you have the authourity to turn on comment verification, which makes it so that in order for someone to post a comment, they have to type in the word that they see (like some squiggly word, that computers don't know how to read).
Most of this spam is simply computers that are programmed to finds blogs and post advertisements. All you have to do is turn on the comment verification option.

Actually Colin, I just thought of something better. I'll guide you through it.
Click 'Settings'
Click 'Comments'
Go to 'Who can comment' and select 'Only members of this blog'
This will make it so that only we will be able to comment, and not some stupid advertising computers.
Is this an indication that you would like it done? If you read this post, you'll find that you never requested it be done.
it's a pretty safe bet that he wants it done
In my comment I didn't ask it, but I did command it. Does a command suit you? If not, then you may do as you please, which I suppose makes it not a command...
do it colin
