Initially formed in the fall of 2004, the CGS Riverbend Class of 2008 had been together of an epic four years of high school. It disbanded in 2008 after graduation, but it still remains the best in all of CGS history.

usually i'm not one to blame the ref...but i have to say those cards were pretty bad....the italy card was the only warranted one...good call to take back hte US goal. but that was just about hte only good call in hte whole game- horrendous refs
yeah I'll refhate with you but US are still in it if they beat Ghana big or if Italy beats Czech and US wins by whatever score.
Cross your fingers :)
The referee did ruin that game. Unacceptable. Who thinks we should write an angry letter to FIFA complaining about that referee? As it is, I don't think he'll be reffing again in the World Cup. Good thing, too.
I don't think it was a good call to take back that U.S. goal; he didn't make a play on it. The red card on the Italian was a good call; but the first red cardon us was complete crap. The second...ok, it was his second yellow, but I'm not sure that tackle warranted a yellow. Either way, I have to hand it to the U.S.; they played much, much better today, and managed to hold out for a tie--and a big point--despite being undermanned for most of the last 43 minutes. ALthough, I don't understand why Arena didn't put Eddie Johnson in with 10 to 15 minutes left; he was the only one with spark in the Czech game, and he would've been a pair of fresh legs. Ah well, at least we got a point.
If we play this well--with eleven guys--we should beat Ghana. Then, as long as Italy can pull out the upset of the Czechs (Ghana could), we're in. I can't wait to see how this turns out.
My fingers are crossed.

Something still doesn't quite add up here. Czech Republic is ranked #2 in the world, the USA is #5, and yet Italy is still the #1 seed in Group E. Can someone explain this to me, or am I just missing something about soccer operations?
they just dont like Italians, or maybe, they overrate everyone else in the group, so when Italy takes the group, it seems like a bigger achievement.
colin- it was good to take back hte goal because mcbride was involved in the play. he may not have touched it. but he blocked the keepers view from an offsides position. so that was a good call. but the rest- no they were awful calls for hte most part
Jake, are you physically incapable of typing the word 'the' without typing 'hte'?
Brazil just won... They haven't been playing up to their usual level of amazing play, though. It seems as if they've been playing down to their opponents. Brazil will have to step it up when they finally play some good teams. Argentina, on the other hand, is cruising.
I know, I really wanted the Aussies to win or tie at least :( but Brazil pulled it off. Brazil and England are the two disappointments so far.
What kind of a Brazilian name is Fred though?
[Hates on the refs.]
I dont think the Brazilians are a dissapointment, everyone just expected more. But what more can you expect, they are 2-0, have the 6 points so they are in the next round. So they are not as fancy as usual, they are getting the job done, playing good defense and winning games. I think they will do good in the knock out rounds.
i agree with brian. and kelly.what kind of brazilian parents names their kid fred? it should be Rico. i vote for a name change
"I dont think the Brazilians are a dissapointment, everyone just expected more"
If everyone expected more than they gave, they are by definition a disappoinment- this does not mean they will not advance though because they are still good (but if the US manages to get out of their group, they are more than likely going to be playing Brazil so Brazil being a disappoinment is actually good.)
Sorry Colin, you were wrong- if you caught the Togo-Switz game, it was the exact same ref though I think that someone talked to him because he called hardly anything, no red cards, and maybe one yellow that I remember. Of course, there was a very obvious PK that the ref did not call.
It was?!? That angers me...I only caught part of that game. He should not be reffing in such a large tournament again. Shame...we'll really have to write FIFA now.

I still say the Brasilians were/are/have been a disappointment so far. They feel short of expectations (which, granted, may have been a little too high), and are therefore a disappointment. I want to see Ronaldo and Ronaldinho (is that howit's spelled?) score some amazing goals and do some bicicle kicks and other amazing crap. But I guess I'll have to settle for the Argentina feats instead.
I definitely am now.
Game six of the NBA Finals just recently concluded. I am angry.
Miami Heat won their first NBA Championship. I commend them.
But now I must say their championship was a crock of excretement, for lack of a better phrase.
I didn't think it could be done...but the refs turned the whole series Miami's way. There were way too many fouls against Wade that didn't happen. That alone was enough to change the series. At the end of game five, there was no foul...a gimme call from the refs (you'll note, if you watch it again, that the foul was called from the ref near midcourt, not the two with the better angle). And I hate it. Why can they not have good refs? This is an outrage. Why do they have 60 year old guys running around with guys in their twenties and thirties? Can they not get somebody a little more appropriate, so that they might get in position? An outrage, a travesty.
I can see Stern's speech now...
"Nobody thought they could do it, but through thick and thin, they fought and battled their way to the championship. Never before had I seen a crew of referees work so hard. I commend them for allowing me to avoid handing the trophy over to Cuban, and for winning this series. Good job, guys. You've earned it."
