Hey everybody!
So as the title says Go veg! Yup I went vegitarian, people at PETA giving me those DVD's at Warped Tour...I know I know that's what they're designed to do, but seriously, at least for me, it's sick. Even if you're not into the whole animal rights thing, you should look into it. The stuff we're putting into our bodies, because of animal processing and all that nonsense, is really what made me stop. I think if I was out there spearing my own food and cooking it myself, I'd be okay, but I'm not, so I'm not okay with it. Anyways enough of my rambling go to the PETA site and check out some information. And also if you want to borrow the DVD I'll be glad to give it to you once school starts. Here's a site to download a starter pack if you decide to give it a try http://www.goveg.com/order.asp there is a link for you to download it on there, you don't really have to order. www.petaeats.com and just check that site out for recipies and vegitarian like things.
Peace&Love

im pretty sure im going veggie too. just have to learn to eat soup without my pepperoni...
I admire you guys for that :-D
However, I don't think I could make it, and I'm afraid to find out what I'm eating. So, I'm not gonna look at the website because I'd rather not know. lol.
I don't admire you guys for that.
Is that the same Peta DVD that the monkey rights guy was handing out? I got one from him, and in return I signed a petition to stop the use of monkeys as test subjects. Jacob was quick to make sure that signing the petition didn't stop him from eating monkeys, just from using them to test cigarettes on.
Nor do I admire you guys.
Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed.
Not eating meat is not healthy, nor natural.
I would go further into it, as it gets into religion and such, but I don't care enough right now.
x.x
You can get all the nutrients you need from non-meat food if you know what to eat, so it isn't really unhealthy. And why should it matter if it's "natural" or not? Much of the food we eat isn't "natural." Do go further into it, what's this about religion saying you have to eat meat?
I dont really care, in a way i am happy. They found something to be passionate about, saving animals and taking care of themselves. Im pissed off at people not finding something they love to do, or something they appreciate. Sunday, take a walk, for 15 minutes, go somewhere that you find peaceful, or a place that you love. Dont speak the whole 15 minutes and just thank god for what you do have. Dont think about politics or "Ayn Rand" just be thankful for what youve been given and enjoy the warmth the sun gives you and the music that nature gives you.
Seriously,
Just try it.
John's right, I can be perfectly healthy not eating meat. There are plenty other ways for people to get the nutrients they need to have a healthy body. Yes I understand the whole animals kill other animals to survive thing, what are we doing any different? The thing is we aren't born needing meat, we have options.
The point of this post was not to get people to admire vegitarians. If you're gonna look into great I've successfully helped to inform someone. If you don't want to look into it great, I'll listen to argues against why vegitarianism isn't the way to go. It most likely won't change my views, but I'm willing to listen to your point.
I'll not type a long response.
Yes, John, you can get all your nutrients elsewhere. But it is difficult, sometimes, and typically more expensive. Our bodies were made to partake in the eating of fruit, vegetables, and meat. It isn't natural, and typically not healthy to deprive our bodies of one of these three. Yes, there are a lot of additives in our food--both in fruit and vegetables. But that is not to say they are all harmful. However, being a vegetarian is hazardous to your health. And finally, when I say religion can factor it, I mean the belief that God put animals here for men (and other animals) to eat. He didn't put them here for us to adopt and brothers or to worship, but to eat. That is how religion factors into vegetarianism.
Why are people so passionate about animals? Because they are cute, because they can move, because we can seemingly relate (although we usually cannot)? Why do we not see people becoming meat-atarians? After all, think of the drama we put the plants through. We spray them with a disagreeable shower of pesticides, then make them grow (if you will) among 100,000 plants of the same kind, before we lop their 'heads' off with our sharp blades, then inject them with some additives (don't pretend that meat is the only food that gets treated), then pack them off and send them out. But seemingly, people don't care. Is it because you cannot live without the nutrients you get from plants? You cannot live without the nutrients you get from meat, either, you just have to find another source, so that isn't it. I don't know what it is. Because they aren't cute, because they can't move, because they can't think (and most of animals' thoughts are instinctual), because they don't scream? I don't know, though I think the trauma the plants go by is just as bad as the animals. I bet if the trees screamed every time we cut them down, we wouldn't do it so often. That must be it.
Too long.

i know what isaac's talking about. People Eating Tasty Animals. and i think i'd rather eat animals. i'm sorry. i just like meat.
Hehe, PETA (People Eat Tasty Animals), I've seen that on a bumper sticker before. It made me laugh for a good bit of time.
I think the best reason not to go vegetarian is this: meat tastes good. Meat is also good for your health.
Colin brings up a valid point. People don't go vegetarian because they "care" about animals, it's because of their lack of "care" about plants. Animals and plants go through similar processes. But plants, lacking some essential animal-like qualities (cuteness, fur, movement) are shunned and thought to be dispensable.
One thing I have to say to Tyler: a bit hypocritcal, aren't you? First, you tell us to find something to be passionate about, and then you tell us not to think about "politics or 'Ayn Rand'." What if it so happens that we are passionate about politics or Ayn Rand? Or what if we're passionate about not being vegetarian? Is being passionate about being vegetarian somehow more noble than being passionate about not being one?
Thank you.
i think passion has to deal with something peaceful and not self degrading or socially degrading...Such as Ayn Rand and Politics.
Good point though
I think neither Ayn Rand nor politics are self-degrading. Rather, they are exactly the opposite. Politics are the means by which we defend ourselves through the use of the law. And to say Ayn Rand is self-degrading is like saying drinking pure grease is good for your health. Ayn Rand is one of the most famous self-interest philosphers there have ever been. (So famous, in fact, that she and Objectivists receive much scorn for being of the self-interest sect.)
Thank you.
What's with your 'thank you' at the end of every comment now?
NO! No dannielle you caaant! you were my steak/taco/burger buddy this isnt faiirrrrrr who will eat with me!!
chelsea still likes steak, right?
...who still appreciates the good meaty foods!
i like meaty food. i like lettuce too, as long as its on a hamburger
Maybe, Isaac, the goal isn't to increase demand? Maybe the county (or state) officials are all vegetarians, also.
If you're gonna be that picky, you should go hard-core vegan and eat only organic things. Someone I know has some wierd stomach disease so she can only eat organic things. Apparantly they make pretty much everything orgnaically if you look hard enough.
i cant not eat meat
and you cant get all your nutrients from other foods
not realistically
you have to take vitamins and other crap.
plus meat tastes good
and other animals eat animals and we are just advanced animals using our own techniques to get waht we want. Some animals stalk. others stake out. others have weird mechanisms such as webs like spiders. Our way is just evolution and using our resources to get what we want most efficiently.
so i dont see anything wrong with eating meat
i dont have a problem with anyone choosing not to, however.
You should just raise a pet cow herd for yourself, Dannielle. Then you can humanely slaughter it with a pitchfork and feast upon it's innards. This is all humane and organic, of course, because you'd be using all natural slop to feed it and the latest in cow killing technologies to butcher it.
