Saw 4

So I was thinking about what would be a good topic of discussion for the blog.

Tell me, what do you think of the Saw series? If you've never seen it, then what do you think of movies with lots of gore? Is Saw pointless blood and gore? Is the plot substantial and believable?I just saw Saw 4 on Saturday and I thought it was pretty good. The ending was really a twist.

I've never seen any of the Saw movies, and I never plan to, so I can't comment on the validity of it's plot. However, to me, it sounds little more than gore for the sake of gore. It sells, yes, but it seems ultimately pointless to me.

I saw, Saw 3 first, then 2 then 1, it was weird. Kinda gory, but i liked it never the less.

I've never seen them either, which may be why I agree with Colin. Gore for the sake of gore is fine with me, I just choose not to go see it.

And is there really a plot? If so, would someone like to summarize it real quicklike, or should I just go to Wikipedia?

I've only seen the first one and I didn't think the plot was very good. I don't really like movies with gore for the sake of gore, except An Inconvenient Truth, (ha ha, ok that was bad, moving on..) although some action movies with lots of gore can be good if the movie is otherwise well made (300 for example). Low budget gory horror films like saw really aren't that appealing to me.

well theres obviously a plot, kids. it just revolves around weird people who like killing "sinner" people. gore for the sake of scaring jessica, i'd say.

The plot is that there is this guy, Jigsaw, who is capturing people and putting them in situations where they have to really want to live in order to live. Usually they have to perform self-mutilation in order to live. Doing nothing results in their death. The people he captures are society's vagrants: drug abusers, rapists, etc. His goal is to make them appreciate life. There is more to the plot, but you get the general idea of the movies.
