Un Question For You All

Okay this blog was getting pretty boring, so here's a question for everyone to think about.

If the government reinstates the draft, what will you do? Do your thoughts on the war and Bush affect what you would do?

First I’ll just protest against how stupid the government is unless I myself get drafted, which probably won’t happen.

If I do somehow get drafted, my draft plan is actually pretty similar to my zombie plan. I make everyone think I’m dead, but secretly fortify my house and stockpile food and machetes. If that doesn’t work out they’ll probably think I’m insane, so I won’t get drafted anyway.

Or I might just leave the country. (and go to Alaska)

I can't get drafted thanks to my back :)
The draft would suck, but while I'm not exactly for the war.. I'm not against it. It's something we're in and I think we have to clean up the mess we've created.

can women even get drafted? and that whole thing about women in the military? yea thats great and all but women aren't allowed to have specific combat jobs(not discrediting their hardwork) but i beleive that a women can fight just as well as a man and that feminists that want equality should start fighting for combat jobs. otherwise shut the fuck up and make me a sammich.

I think a draft would hurt our fighting force more than help it. I mean, the moral would be worse, the soldiers would be less willing to work and obey orders, and that's not even talking about the kind of support from back home they'd receive. If you want an example of how well the draft worked, take a look at Vietnam and how that turned out, both in-country and at home.

And although it may have been a blunder to enter, I don't really see a good way to pull out of Iraq now, so I guess I "support the war," but in a very loose sense.

As for me personally, I had asthma as a kid, so I'm pretty sure I'm ineligible. But if not, I think I'd go serve my term and hope to not get killed.

good question. id say fuck the government and move to switzerland or sweden. oh wait, im doing that anyway, but there would be extra anger if they tried drafting me.

in response to tyler: as a female, i wouldnt want to go to war or fight and i would gladly make you a "sammich" instead.
other than that, i wholly agree with eric. and i love john's idea.

Personally I simply wouldn't be able to put my own life in danger for George Bush or this war.

Perhaps for another war, but not this one. If I was drafted for the Iraq War I would probably leave the country, after mailing the draft card back to the U.S. government.
