Wooo Spring Break!

So it’s officially Spring Break for many of us, and I wanted to see who still looks at this thing occasionally. (probably just those of you who get email notifications from it) So, is anyone doing anything exciting this week? A few friends at UVA are going to the Game Development Conference (http://www.gdconf.com/) and I almost decided to go because it sounds epicly nerdy, but it was too expensive, so I’ll just be watching on G4 and hanging with the nerds around here.

Speaking of nerds, some of us should have a get together of some kind: movie, football, party, just saying…

Lastly, on a political note, in case anyone cares: It’s been over a year, what’s everyone think of Obama? Weak President or the weakest President?

Horribly weak.

Also, what about that crap Apple is trying to pass off as a tablet? Where's my augmented reality?!? I'm more excited for the Courier: http://gizmodo.com/5486583/microsoft-couriers-devolution

Yay, 3 of us at least still check this!

Courier does look interesting, not something that would make sense for me to buy, but I can see where it'd have a market. Like they say, it seems good for reading books or taking notes at a meeting or something. The big problem I see with it is that it seems there's no keyboard at all. Sure, a pen's fine for taking notes and stuff, but for example, for web surfing you'll want a keyboard, even if it's an on-screen one like the ipad has. Keyboards are faster, more accurate, and I'm not convinced that the pen input will be sensitive enough to make handwriting recognition work, even assuming you have neat readable handwriting. Just my thoughts.

pen input works pretty well if you spend the time to calibrate your computer to your handwriting, however, its still a thousand times less efficient than just typing. also apple stuff gets dumber every year

I think it seems kind of like the next step in a personal assistant, for scheduling meetings and things like that on the go. You're right in that a keyboard would be nice, but there's naught to say it wouldn't come with a bluetooth one--which I think even Apple did. Even on the go, I wouldn't want to use the iPad's on screen keyboard, even if I just have to write an e-mail. I mean, I'm sure it'll have plenty wrong with it, but it already looks like it'll outperform the iPad. And seriously, who named that thing?

True, but it just seems more convenient if a physical keyboard came with it, like an actual tablet pc, but I guess Apple wants to create a new market for people who want a semi-mobile device that you can't really do much on. Even then, the HP Tablet is going to be better than the ipad in every way; it's the same idea, but cheaper, better hardware, and supposedly it'll be able to run Windows 7 (multitasking and Flash = gg Apple).

Also, did anyone see Sony's new motion sensitive controller? Looks cool, a Wiimote combined with the power of the PS3.

except microsoft's project natal completely destroys both the wii and sony's new controller. its controller free gaming

Personally I like the WePad. http://www.digitaltrends.com/gadgets/german-wepad-hoping-to-offer-an-alternative-to-the-ipad/?news=123
