Can anybody believe we aren't in school today? The roads aren't that bad, all the ice melted pretty quickly.
I can understand getting off yesterday-when they made the call they didn't know how long it was going to come down..
But today..a two hour delay would've made more sense than a delay. The only way I can make sense of it is to consider the fact that Dr. Hill must have been between a rock and a hard place. If he closed schools, as he did, he'd recieve a lot of criticism. But if he kept them open, he runs the risk of injury of students in auto accidents [perhaps due to ice], and gets a lot of criticism for this too. Reminds me of last year, whether it was in Spotsylvania or Stafford I don't remember, when it was icy but they didn't close school and a couple of teens died in a car accident. I'm guessing he wanted to avoid something like this..better safe than sorry.

Agreed. We definitely should have gone to school yesterday though.

thats what colin wrote
well..you know what I meant. so i typed it wrong...i meant a two hour delay would've made more sense than a cancellation, aka 7 hour 25 minute delay...
my dad said the roads were horrible when he had to go to work and he understood why they were cancelling. The rain had washed off all of the chemicals they had put down and then that froze overnight creating a lot of black ice. There were accidents everywhere too.
Yes, the roads were really bad. There was no doubt we shouldn't have gone to school.
However, we shuold have gone to school on Thursday. They cancelled schools before it even started, which is something that should never be done. We should always go, and if it gets bad, then leave.
There's no point in going, then leaving early, because they have to feed everyone or no one at all, so they either hafta cancel before the first lunch shift (10:40ish) or wait until the last ones done, which gets us home an hour early. The best thing to do was to cancel.
