You can't squeeze God.

I don't like the first one...
And in the third one it isn't asking for something that actually meets all of those conditions, just like the seccond one didn't ask for a word ending in gry. The question was "can you guess the riddle?" so the answer is either yes (guessing incorrectly) or no (not being able to guess since there's no answer). God and thought can't be squeezed and popped.

Good riddles. Impossible, nearly, thus good.

Perhaps it is proverbial thinking, guys.

I tell you, I think we overthink all of these.

I think the answer is:

TIME

Yup. Think about it. Time does all those things. Plus, take a looksie at this poem. I can't confirm its authenticity, because I've only found it in one place, but I if it is a real poem, then it was from it that the riddle came.

TIME

The time has come,
winter is here
and those yellow bears disappear.

The time has past
as man looks back with a sigh
and a tear in his eye.

As time is held
boys cross their legs
but of course the toilet begs

As time marches on
Girls loose their blush
and swap a comb for their brush

As time passes
For those held high
their end is nigh

As time catches up
Everyone is equal
when we get to the final sequel

As time turns
Without it we have flour and water
With it we have breakfast for my daughter

As time revolves
How does one turn water and wine
into something so fine

As time runs out
The more in a minute you try and squeeze
the less you can do with ease.

As time ticks
All the time that has past
man cannot comprehend something so vast.

Maybe? I don't know, but my vote goes for Time.

That makes sense. Time that is.

And it must be a real poem, as I am looking at it. Whether or not it is published by an author is what you meant, I think.

time makes polar bears white?

Colin. said...

Time changes spring to summer, summer to autumn, autumn to winter, winter to spring. Since the polar bear's coat is white mainly during the winter (taking on a yellowish tint during the warmer months), time could be said to make0 polar bears white.

Time does a lot of things, but it doesn't pop if you squeeze it and you won't pop if you look at it. I don't care what some poem says, "yes" and "no" are the most logical choices.

you're taking it too literally john.

AMPaquette said...

john's got a good point. if you can't answer something literally, why ask?

Colin. said...

Technically, John, you're right. One should, I believe, at least at first, take everything strictly literally.

Obviously if you said 'no' or 'yes' then you would technically be right. However, I think we all agree that that would be the easy way out, and we could reword the last part of it to say: "What does all these things?"

JohnC said...

I don't know of anything that does all of those, so there must be no answer. ('something' might technically work) Now, to prove that I'm right, I googled this riddle and every link I checked said that the answer was 'no.' I wouldn't say that it's cheating since I've already given my answer, I still think 'yes' is technically more correct since one can just guess, and saying 'yes' or 'no' actually answers the riddle, making the answer 'yes.'

Riddles are never meant to be reworded, if you have to reword it, it's a bad riddle.

Kevin said...

Of course, John. But I'm saying if we made a new riddle, which is the same as that last one with the minor change of ending that I already proposed, then it would be answered with "Time."

JohnC said...

It's too much of a stretch for some things, it seems too forced to be the right answer, and I don't think time meets the last two at all.

Kevin said...

It does John, you just need to think outside the bun(box).

Eric said...

THe box of buns? Or the bun shaped box? Or both? Or neither?

42

Eric said...

Yeah, that's the real answer. To life, the universe and everything: 42.
